Baofeng GT-5R

The Baofeng GT-5R is a slightly revised version of the Baofeng UV-5R. The UV-5R is often criticized for being easily configured to transmit outside the authorized ham radio bands, and for spurious emissions on harmonic frequencies. The GT-5R eliminates these common complaints, and can still be purchased for less than $25. It’s programmable with CHIRP, and is a cheap starter radio.
